AWIL 212 - Idan Raichel & Golazin

‘Build bridges not walls’ was one of the key slogans to emerge after America’s recent presidential election. Composer Idan Raichel has long nurtured this philosophy since the release of his 2007 debut album, ‘Within My Walls’, forming creative partnerships with Palestinian musicians, global talent that includes Alicia Keys, Cape Verde's Mayra Andrade, Portugal’s Ana Moura, and Malian guitar royal Vieux Farka Toure. The London date in Idan’s current European tour sees a Hebrew–Farsi lyrical alliance with rising new star Golazin, who has flourished as a singer since adopting this city as her home eleven years ago. On stage tonight at 229 The Venue, Idan and Golazin will dot the 'i's of Israel and Iran with musical notes linking the two countries through melodic eyes. Peace and unity might seem like a cliched desire for music artists to achieve through music, but whilst divisive  leaders govern the world stage, it’s absolutely necessary to orchestrate an alternative. See Idan and Golazin on the concert stage this evening at 229 Gt. Portland St.W1W - amongst their beautiful songs, you might just hear the sound of some walls come tumbling down.
